Private LTE/5G Networks: Critical Mass Ecosystems Are Finally Emerging
????Private LTE/5G networks, in their most recent iteration, are truly in the very early stages. The ecosystem supporting this sector has been understandably slow in developing primarily due to factors such as new spectrum bands, recent (and fluid) regulatory rules, the impact of dynamic spectrum sharing, virtualization (of everything) not to mention a disparate group of "users "that range across enterprise, municipalities, education, WISPS and many other applications.
Until recently there was not a mainstream effort among tier 1 infrastructure equipment providers to prioritize development, harmonization and supporting infrastructure and services to properly deploy as a carrier great service, complete with interoperability and adequate security at a reasonable cost.
With the introduction of new spectrum blocks such as CBRS, C-band and other tangential airwaves, available in both licensed and unlicensed frequencies, numerous cloud-based network managing tools, micro-sized tower and fiber lease options, end-user terminal optionality, a decidedly more "friendly" ecosystem is beginning to develop. PrivateX networks will play a very large role in modernizing our country's connectivity infrastructure, upgrading educational institutions to properly address "digital divide" issues and provide businesses with an alternative to carrier-only options to carry out digitization efforts.?
