Private Health Coverage: What It Is and How to Get It

Private health coverage is a type of health insurance that is offered by private companies. It is different from public health coverage, which is offered by the government. Private health coverage can be obtained through an employer, or it can be purchased on your own. In this blog post, we will discuss the basics of private health coverage and how to get it!

If you are employed in the United States, there is a good chance that your employer offers some form of private health coverage. Employer-sponsored health insurance is the most common type of private health coverage in the United States. If your employer offers health insurance, they will usually pay a portion of the premium (the monthly cost of the insurance).

Most, but not all, private health options are medically underwritten meaning that approval is conditional and approval is based on the applicant's current medical status & history.

If you are not employed, or your employer does not offer health insurance, you can still get private health coverage through a licensed insurance agent.

In specific situations, private health coverage can seem costly, but there are ways to save money on premiums and out-of-pocket costs. This will primarily depend on the state in which you live, the number of individuals you intend to insure, as well as, their specific medical histories.

I assist clients by shopping both the private & public markets for the coverage that best fits your needs and budget. I am available to help review coverage plans and aid you in selecting your best options.
