What you missed in the Network

Get a glimpse of last week's breakfast roundtable in London and fantastic fall networking drinks in New York City.

Isobel Clarke, British Private Equity & Venture Capital Association (BVCA) and Damien Crossley, Macfarlanes spoke with attendees, including Amy Coleman Redenbaugh, Thoma Bravo and Steven Dunne at a special breakfast roundtable, hosted by Dann Pitt with Adam Smallman .

These events showcase the stellar potential opportunities within the network to discuss strategies, catch up with peers, and make the most of catching those crucial in-person connections.

In-person dinners

Relationships are the cornerstone of success in the private funds industry, so what better way to strengthen those connections than dinner with peers. This month, the Network hosts exclusive in-person dinners in San Jose, Boston and Chicago.?

  1. October 8: San Jose Dinner. After the first day of the Data & Tech Forum, Chris Tamms will meet members at?Scott’s Seafood, a South Bay favorite for over 30 years, for intimate networking.
  2. October 17: Boston Supper Club. Boston Members are welcome at La Padrona at The Raffles Hotel. The evening provides opportunities to connect with fellow executives based in Massachusetts.
  3. October 24: Chicago Supper Club. Chicago CFOs will convene at Beatnik on the River, with Eastern Mediterranean, North African and Mexican flavors overlooking the Chicago River. Attendees will have the opportunity to make meaningful connections with other Midwestern-based leaders.

Professional Development with Dr. Ben Elman

The Private Funds CFO Network’s Professional Development Series are included in the membership, and they are designed to help senior executives grow as leaders. Ben Elman is an executive coach specializing in organizational psychology and leads each virtual workshop session. Qualifying attendees may earn 1 CPE credit.

  1. October 17: Changing Your Brand and Perceptions Inside Your Organization. In this session, discuss how to reshape your reputation to be seen as a professional who not only succeeds but also cares about others’ success. Dr. Elman will cover key techniques like building relationship credits and aligning with others’ expectations to increase buy-in.
  2. October 29: Working with and Managing Different Personalities. Over the hour, Dr. Elman will break down four dominant personality types and show you how to manage each one effectively. Discover which personalities are the most challenging for finance professionals and learn strategies to effectively manage such challenges.
  3. October 31: Shifting from Non-Expert to Expert Leader. Develop leadership skills and strategies to foster productive discussions, even when you’re not the subject matter expert. Learn how to manage imposter syndrome, contribute meaningfully in meetings, and gain the respect of the room.


Virtual meetings

This month’s virtual sessions range from continuation funds to the practical uses of AI in private funds, which have been tailored to the challenges and opportunities senior finance executives face in their work.

October 15: Continuation Funds 101. Hear from Nicholas Gleize , Co-Head of Secondaries at 高盛 , and Kevin White , Counsel at Ropes & Gray LLP , as they dive deep into the dynamics and trends shaping this space. You’ll learn the dynamics and trends of continuation vehicles and what it looks like currently, LP/GP motivations for continuation structure and more. Qualifying attendees may earn 1 CPE.


October 24: Practical Uses for Generative AI in Private Funds. Over the hour, Anil Kumar, Managing Director of the Generative AI Operations Group at Alvarez & Marsal , and Cole Corbin , Managing Director at Alvarez & Marsal , will explore how generative AI can help with storytelling, management dashboards, trend analysis and more. Whether you’re new to AI or looking to deepen your understanding, this webinar will provide practical insights you can implement immediately.


Andrew J. Frazer Smith , Managing Director at Bridge , shared his insight into alternative fund finance in this virtual session on US and UK Perspectives on Sub-line Facilities. Watch the full meeting here. ?
