If you classify yourself as a purpose-driven leader, what is it that defines you? What is the leadership legacy you want to create? And what stands in the way of you accelerating your efforts and impact?
These are sorts of questions that Carolyn Butler-Madden and I have been exploring, and the answers we turned up led to the creation of our first invite-only, private dinner event, with Siena Nisavic on hand to take some great photos:
There's more about the dinner event in this LinkedIn post and you can check out the video highlights on Vimeo or YouTube .
We've found that purpose-driven leaders want to do more than ‘give a little bit back’, they want to embed purpose across their business to scale up their impact.
Their core beliefs include:
? A growth and abundance mindset.
? Business must be a force for positive change.
? Their people must feel energised and connected to the purpose of their organisation when they come to work every day.
? Thriving in the challenge of navigating the tensions between people, planet and profits.
? They may feel a bit 'lonely' in their endeavours.
We attribute the popularity of our dinner events to their desire to be with people who are like them, and the opportunity they have to share their challenges and successes.
We invite you to find out more or get involved.

It's an ambitious project where these organisations that compete in some areas (eg. funding or fundraising) are exploring a collaborative approach to non-competitive areas of their business - also known as strategic partnerships - to help them play a bigger game and get better outcomes for their clients.
Carolyn and I led the afternoon session, introducing collaborative perspectives along with 4 practical tools to support their in-house teams, sub-projects and the collective as a whole.
The key people bringing them together are Larry Fingleson , Martin Mulcare and Rebecca Harris . More detail in my LinkedIn post .
When purpose is a cynical recruiting play
埃森哲 ’s ‘Future of Work 2022’ survey found that 52 percent of CEOs see purpose more as a talent branding tool than a real catalyst for change. As a result, they run the risk that employees become cynical about the veracity of their public commitments, which has damaging flow-on effects.
The CEO Magazine - ANZ has published my article on this topic which you may find interesting because many executives aren't yet fully grasping the links between purpose and business value creation.
