This Privacy Policy applies to our collection, use, storage and disclosure of personal information through the Digital Skills for Women+ Program (the “Program”), our social media, and in the course of the other programs, events, and activities we engage in (collectively the “Services”).
We reserve the right to modify any part of this Privacy Policy. Please check this Privacy Policy regularly for updates as changes are effective on notice.
By accessing our Services, you agree to be bound by our Privacy Policy and accept all legal consequences. Continuing access after a change is posted will constitute your acceptance of such change. If you do not agree to this Privacy Policy, in whole or in part, please do not access our Services.
1. About Digital Skills for Women+
Digital Skills for Women+ is a learning program developed by Eilidh Lindsay-Sinclair and Laura Hawkins. Our flagship program is designed to help women+ without experience in the tech industry to learn more about industry-related topics, the ecosystem, and career opportunities.
2. Effective Date and Scope of the Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy is effective as of the “Last Updated” date posted above.
This Privacy Policy governs the practices of and operated by Hawkins and Lindsay-Sinclair Consulting Inc. (“us”, “our”, “we”) regarding the use and collection of data and personally
identifiable information obtained in the course of our providing the Program, Services, and through other interactions you may have with us.
This Privacy Policy applies to all those participating in or present at a Program and any others who engage with our Services.
3. What Do We Collect?
We only collect personal information that is directly related to our Services. Wherever possible this information will be collected directly from you.
We collect personal information that may include:

?Information collected in the course of delivering our Services, including the making of recordings

We work with software providers and other third parties to deliver our Services. These third parties may collect your name, email address, and other information. They may use cookies and other tools to track your use of their technology. Please review their privacy policies. We cannot control the privacy practices of our third-party providers.
4. How Is My Information Collected?
We collect personal information by lawful and fair means. We may collect this information in various ways, including through your engagement with us by phone, email, social accounts, online meeting platforms, or in person, when you register for our Services, or in the case that you facilitate a Program. As part of our delivery of the Program, certain of our Services may be recorded whether delivered live or virtually. Anyone attending recorded Services may have aspects of their personal information recorded whether they actively participate or not. We may also collect this information through your communications with our partners, such as Digital Nova Scotia and the Atlantic Opportunities Agency.
By accessing our Services, you grant us permission to request and receive personal information that is relevant to providing the Services, record-keeping and other activities required by applicable law, regulation, or industry practice.
5. How Is Personal Information Used?
We may use personal information for the following purposes, including but not limited to:

?Provide our Services. Personal information such as your name, address, phone number, and email may be used to provide you with the Services you are accessing. We record certain of our Services in order to support individuals in their learning experience as part of the Program.

?Provide support or other services. We may use your personal information to respond to your requests for information or further support.
?Provide updates about our Services. We may use your personal information to notify you regarding the Program, developments in our Services, and event information. You may unsubscribe from these communications at any time.

We do not sell, rent or disclose your personal information to third parties without your consent, unless it is required by law.
6. Consent
By availing our Services or otherwise providing personal information, you consent to our collection, use, and disclosure as set out in this policy. As further set out in this policy, you grant us the right and permission to photograph and/or record you in connection with your accessing of our Services, and to use the photograph and/or recording for the purpose of supporting individuals in their learning experience as part of the Program. Such photographs and recordings shall only be distributed to participants and only made available for a limited time.
Wherever possible, we seek an individual’s consent before we collect their personal information. The form of such consent may vary depending on the circumstances and the type of information being requested. When determining the appropriate consent, we consider the sensitivity of the personal information and the purpose for which we are collecting it. Consent can be express or implied and can be provided directly by the individual or by an authorized representative. Implied consent may be reasonably inferred from an action or inaction. When using personal information for a new purpose, we will make reasonable efforts to document that new purpose and obtain further consent.
7. Where is My Information Stored?
We store personal information in Canada and elsewhere, through our use of cloud services provided by third parties such as Google.
Please note that, given the nature of cloud services, your personal information may be processed, accessed, and/or stored in Canada, or another jurisdiction, and will be subject to the laws of that jurisdiction.
8. Limits of Collection
We endeavour to limit the collection of personal information to that which is reasonable and necessary for our purposes, or as otherwise stated or implied at the time of collection.
9. How Long is My Data Stored?
Except as otherwise required by applicable law or regulation, we will only retain your personal information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes we collected it for, including for the purposes of satisfying any legal, accounting, or reporting requirements. Under some circumstances we may anonymize your personal information so that it can no longer be associated with you. We reserve the right to use such anonymized data for any legitimate business purpose without further notice to you or your consent.
10. Security Measures
We use reasonably appropriate security measures to protect against loss, theft, unauthorized access, disclosure, use, or modification of personal information. The particular measures may vary depending on the sensitivity, amount, format, nature, and storage of the personal information and will involve, as applicable, physical, organizational and electronic security measures.
Although we seek to protect against possible breaches of our security systems, no institution can fully eliminate the risks of unauthorized access, hacking, data loss or breaches. In engaging with us, you should be aware that e-mail and the use of cloud services are not fully secure mediums.
11. Third Parties
We may work with third parties to provide services on our behalf, such as marketing services and payment processing services. Those service providers will be permitted to obtain only the personal information they need to deliver the service in question, and we endeavour to work with service providers that maintain similar levels of privacy protection. You acknowledge and agree that we are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties that provide services on our behalf.

We may include links to other sites on our social media pages or in the course of providing our Services. Please note that these links are provided only as a convenience, and we are not responsible for any collection, storage or processing of personal data transferred after following any links. Please refer to the privacy policies of those sites for more information on how those sites collect and use your personal data.
13. Access or Changes to Your Personal Information
When providing our Services to you, it is important that your personal information is up to date and accurate. If there are any changes to your personal information, if there are inaccuracies, or your personal information is incomplete, please contact us at [email protected] to make necessary changes.
We will respond to a request for access to your personal information in accordance with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act, SC 2000, c 5 (“PIPEDA”). Unless significant retrieval costs are involved, requests are met at little to no cost. You will be advised of any potential cost prior to retrieval. We will not respond to requests that are frivolous, vexatious or repetitious.
