Privacy Marches Forward. Are You Prepared?
Last week, a significant privacy rights bill made its way out of a US House of Representatives committee. This marks the first time such a sweeping bill has advanced this far.
The American Data and Privacy Protection Act (ADPPA) has a long journey to become law, but brands should pay attention to its provisions and their potential business impact.
How much of an impact?
Last week,?IAB estimated 80% of data will be ignored based on the 2023 legislation. Their report also found that the US ad industry already has lost "approximately 50% to 60% of the signal fidelity from third-party identifiers" due to steps taken by Apple and Firefox's browser, even before Google's deprecation of web browser cookies in 2024.
So, for publishers, suppliers, retailers, and brands now is the time to stick your head in the sand.??
