Thankfully goldfish have a very short memory! ??

The man in the desert made me think of a common situation here in Brazil. Most pharmacy chains offer big discounts on medications if you provide your ‘CPF’ (like a social security number), so naturally, most customers go along with it. And by doing that, they collect loads of data, creating a complete purchasing history for each person, and even know which snacks you grab at the checkout. I once asked an employee about this and, not surprisingly, the entire store staff doesn't know why they need your 'CPF' or what they do with it. Still, there's always a privacy notice at the customer service counter... so it's okay.

Humor is founded on a germ of truth. But I have had clients whose data management policies came perilously close to number 1.
