"Prisoner of our own belief system"
Hello friends,
Good Morning and greeting for the day!
After spending much time on this, I have tried my best to give you something better than so many things. So it’s my humble request to you to go through it & give your comments and share, if you like it and correct me wherever required.
Now coming to the point, how our own belief system becomes prison for us that do not allow to do what we are capable of. I believe that belief is ultimately the key to growth. Our most deeply held core beliefs are the base of our personality. They govern our feelings of worth, competence, belonging, security, trust, and self-reliance. As once said by Swami Vivekanand that all power is within you and you can anything and everything believe in that. Whenever I read this I feel that those lines are telling me that
Bring out your inborn courage and strength,
Have right determination for right action,
Practice hard work in full swing
Surely you will be the king of the kings.
But many times carrying a wrong belief system destroys the greatness that’s within us and we become an average. And such beliefs given by someone’s that you can’t do or you are week to do, make blind our mindsight and so we cannot see the bright future through our eyesight. And we quit. And the moment we quit we fail.
So the belief system plays a vital role in phase of forming our character since our childhood. Those beliefs we form mainly since our childhood and early teenage that leads to set up our core beliefs system. They are the strongest factors that influence our personality. But that does not mean that we are stuck with them. They are hard to change but not impossible. And we accept that it is hard because human nature generally resists change. Change is uncomfortable. Regardless of its positive or negative effect, change can be stressful. Many times we get so comfortable with our current situation that even when the change is for our growth, we don't want to accept it. We stay where we are, expecting a different result.
So to illustrate more I want to tell you one story that I read in a beautiful book called you can win by Shiv Khera.
Charles Dickens wrote about a prisoner who stayed for many years in a dungeon. After serving his sentence, he got his freedom. He was brought out from his cell into the bright daylight of the open world. This man looked all around and after a few moments was so uncomfortable with his newly acquired freedom that he asked to be brought back to his cell into confinement. To him, the dungeon, the chains and the darkness were more secure and comfortable than accepting the change of freedom and the open world.
So this story tells us how our belief system determines our destiny. It is like the one who believe that he can get 100% score in education, he can. The one who believe that he can run a 1 miles in 4 minutes, he can, the one who believe that he can climb Everest, he can. The one who believe who can hit the moon; even he misses the moon he can land in the star, because he believes.
So a belief triggers a power to do or to act. Without firm belief that a man can travel in a space, our scientist would not have the courage, interest and enthusiasm to proceed. Belief that many big diseased can be cured has ultimately produced the cure for the diseased. The one who believe he can, will always have two options in his life if he wins –he can lead and if he lose then he can guide but the one who do not believe that he can, will always have left with one option and that is NO.
“Whether you think you can, or you think you can't--you're right.” ― Henry Ford
So always have belief that you can because a man with such belief can construct something beautiful even in a midst of chaos, while one of doubting mind that says you can’t always destroy even that which has been created for his own happiness. Such wrong belief system is like a little germ which gets lodged in the heart and infects the whole being. The degradation of the individual begins when he possess such wrong belief system and no longer believes that he has any access to the unlimited potential which is within him.
As soon as we allow ourselves to believe that we don’t possess the unlimited potential, unlimited power and we cannot help but just doubt ourselves and it sets limitations for us. So ultimately it becomes a prison for us made by none other than us. And once we make this prison then we just keep doubting on ourselves, we lower our standard and become incapable of doing anything good or big and what happen is we lose much of the beauty of life. And we just are on the bottom of line which is crowded by average people. And you know what; it does not take much effort to be at bottom. It does not take much courage and strength to be with average people.
So change such belief system that limiting you by becoming your prison as there are endless possibilities exist just beyond your wrong belief system.
SO EXPAND BUT DON’T LIMIT!
