Did you know that before 1900 the word priorities rarely appeared in print?

Around 1940 time management experts turned the singular priority into multiple priorities...

Now we have work priorities, family priorities, health priorities, spiritual priorities, self-improvement priorities, and the list goes on...

Is it any wonder that in today's world of growing distractions we find ourselves running around like headless chickens?

We, not even us ladies can multi-task ??

It's simply not possible to focus on more than one thing...

Priority comes from the word prior, which means to come before something else...

Something that comes before all others, it's the most important thing you have to deal with or that must be done before everything else you have to do...

It has to be done NOW!


In our Planning sessions, we tend to look at 3 key areas of life...

Health...

Most business owners are so focused on their business that they forget about their health, it's not a priority, not until they find themselves in the back of an ambulance...

Wealth...

The business is the vehicle to give business owners the life they want, that's it, it's its only function...

Wealth means they can invest in their business, their team, and their community, they can live life with financial security, they can make a difference...

The next area we focus on is Relationships...

The relationships with family, friends, colleagues, customers, suppliers the list goes on and on...

I also include in this category the relationship they have with themselves...

I find many business owners do not have the best relationship with themselves...

They are always quick to find fault and would never allow another person to speak to them the way they speak to themselves...

Sound familiar?

Once we have discovered the priority in each of these categories we now have to prioritise them...

Is your priority Health or Wealth?

Wealth...

Is it Wealth or Relationships?

Wealth...

So, Wealth becomes the #1 priority for the next 90 days...

Have you read the book 'Will it make the boat go faster?

Written by Ben Hunt-Davis MBE

and Harriet Beveridge

in the book, they explain how having a theme to a goal i.e 'Will it make the boat go faster' allowed the Olympic rowing team to win gold...

So I encourage my client to theme their goal for the next 90 days...

With Wealth it's pretty easy to put a number on the goal it could be to get my sales to £2 million or get my pre-tax profit to £500,000.

A few years ago a client had a goal of reaching £1 million in pre-tax profit which translated into 'In for the Mil' a goal every single team member bought into...

Before any decision was made at any level the question was asked 'Will it get us closer to the Mil or not?' If it did they went ahead if not they put the idea to one side to be considered at a different time...

Reaching the Mil was the number 1 priority for the business...

Did they reach it?

They blew it out of the park ??

How do you prioritise your goals and your actions?

It doesn't have to be for 90 days, it can be for a month, a week, a day an hour...

Start each day with a 'Today I must' or even better 'Today I will'...

A will is always easier to achieve than a must...
