Prioritizing Self-Nurturing: A Call to Women

Prioritizing Self-Nurturing: A Call to Women

By: Wanjiru komu , Founder, TGC

Last Saturday, I had the privilege of addressing a group of college women alongside my partner, Fellaris. We delved into the complex realm of 21st-century African womanhood, centering our discussion on the abundant resources and opportunities available to empower women and enhance their quality of life. Yet, we also explored the tightrope we walk on, balancing this pursuit of success, choice, and empowerment with the enduring pressures of traditional values and expectations, a dichotomy that seeps into every facet of our lives, from the workplace to our personal relationships, perpetuating deep-seated inequalities.

Joy Kendi: The New Face and Ambassador of Vaseline Intensive Care Body Lotion

Joy is not only an OG in the content creator space but also one who stands out. She puts her back into her content, giving us not only high-quality content but also something very captivating. Her hard work has paid off, and she announced that she is the new face and ambassador of Vaseline Intensive Care Body Lotion. We love seeing her on billboards all over Nairobi. We love to see a woman win and get that coin.

Congratulations, Joy, and many more!

Captain Ann Mokua

A beautifully written story by Biko Zulu highlights the life of a highly decorated four-bar Kenya Airways captain Anne Mokua. They take us through an inspiring story of becoming a pilot, her advancement and her mindset on the ‘difficulty’ and stereotyping of the job as a male-dominated space. She highlights the effect of her womanhood on her career advancement and offers her insight into work-family integration.

TGC Conversations

A great conversation ensued in one of the groups in the TGC Whatsapp community about the financial dynamics of a relationship and specifically about girlfriend allowance. Do you ask for it? And if yes how? Should adult women have other adults covering their bills? And so much more.

-I was looking for this word provider Men are different, there are providers, what if you meet someone who isn't a provider? Some men are just naturally mean . ??

-I got girlfriend allowance...now i get wife allowance with all bills paid i work from home with 2 kids. I did not ask for girlfriend allowance, he offered, he was earning 30× my salary so yeah ?? he wanted me in a better house( which was my whole salary) so yes he paid my rent he did not move is, we got married and found another house etc etc. I learnt very quickly he is a traditional provider man and that has never changed. i was a strong independent firstborn stubborn but niliwezwa ??????

-Could be true but you are better off independent with a person that compliments you than dependent on a person who completes you. Because how sustainable is it to keep having people to complete your lifestyle?

What are your thoughts on this? Join the WhatsApp Community for this and so much more.
