Prioritizing Self-efficacy

Prioritizing Self-efficacy

Societal changes tend to take a toll on one’s mental wellbeing. In times like these, how are you prioritizing your self-efficacy – which is defined as a person’s belief in their ability to succeed in a particular situation.?

It is crucial to believe in yourself, your ability to meet the challenges that you are currently facing, and those to come while completing each task successfully. Self-efficacy plays an essential role not only in how one feels about themselves but also determines whether you achieve your goals.

"You cannot always control what goes on outside. But you can always control what goes on inside." – Wayne Dyer

Believing in yourself requires you to have a strong sense of self-belief. What implicates this belief? The main element to consider is your self-perception, including:

  • Self-regulation of thoughts – The greatest, most incredible, power you have is that of your thoughts. If your life doesn’t look like what you’re dreaming of, it means you are in a great position to change. Change is always available to us at every moment. Your thoughts create your life. If you want to change your life, change first your thoughts.

  • Self-regulation of feelings and action – Your emotions are a tool to guide you. Remember, our emotional reactions influence how one feels about their capabilities when faced with a situation. Evaluating your emotions is an essential skill that you can develop by taking a recon of your emotions in a particular situation. Every reaction to? emotion or emotional reaction in a said situation moves towards, or away from the life you desire. Are you regressing to the less evolved version of yourself?

So how do I successfully self-regulate?

To self regulate successfully, you have to pause between a feeling and an action, which starts with a thought. It is in that pause that mindfulness takes place. Take the time to think things through, plan,? and wait patiently. This is designed to help you determine your ability to adapt and learn in changing times.? In the pause, you will realize what you are missing or what you need to adjust in yourself to become the best version of yourself in the situation you are in.

How strongly you believe you have control over any situation and experience is also known as the “Locus of Control”. Do you believe that your destiny is controlled by yourself (your choices) or by external focuses?

Evaluating your locus of control will give you a clearer picture of/indication of how you view the world. Most importantly, it reveals how you view your role within society or the world at large.

With this perspective, you are then able to avoid hitting walls. We are our own worst enemies when it comes to objectively assessing ourselves but we need to. Interior work is mandatory to understand yourself.

Homework: “Who Am I? Exercise“

We continue to evolve as humans and require a re-introduction to ourselves ever so often.?
