Prioritizing Safer Chemistry: Beyond Benign and ChemFORWARD Create New Module for Educators

In a recent presentation, Dr. John Warner, Co-Founder of Beyond Benign and the field of green chemistry, posed the question, “Why would a chemist make a hazardous material in the first place?” Green chemistry is all about designing safer chemicals and avoiding hazardous materials, and Beyond Benign is always thinking about these concepts. That’s why we are so excited to announce a new module?that demonstrates how hazard evaluation tools can better prepare chemistry students to understand and address hazards within chemical design. We teamed up with ChemFORWARD to develop this module, which will help educators teach students how to use the ChemFORWARD platform — a tool through which users can identify and eliminate chemicals of concern, avoid regrettable substitutions, and design safer products from the outset. Together, let’s continue to make chemistry safer and more sustainable. ?

Sincerely,?

Dr. Monica Soma Hensley
