When leader is
It is about doing what is right for the bigger good even if it means not everyone would be pleased. True leadership requires courage and conviction to stand by your decisions, especially when they are difficult. One is not setting out to be unpopular or disliked. This is really about where you focus and where your emphasis lies. People forget more often respect and popularity coexist quite and nicely.
But the interesting thing: if you set out to be liked as your primary goal, it's hard to win respect. You'll generally present as being weak, indecisive and avoidant. These aren't the foundations that build respect in people, and certainly not in leaders.
What leader must do :
-??????? Focus on the results what you want

-??????? Focus on transparency & openness
-??????? Focus o duty of care to your team / people
-??????? Give feedback, its like you are giving a gift
Tough decisions earn respect, not always likes.
If you are focused on need to be liked, as opposed to what your audience needs to hear, you will hate that experience and you'll avoid delivering the hard messages. You have to be strong enough to interact, to take questions from the team / stake holders and to stand firm, knowing that your job isn't to be liked. It’s to communicate the important messages to your people. You may not be liked, but if you want to get anywhere, you have to be respected.
If you run away (avoid) from capability building, your team is going to be weak, your people won't grow, and you'll rationalize (justify) all of this by saying that you are keeping your people happy. I would say subconsciously, you are just feeding your own need to be liked.
