Priorities in the Age of AI: Insights from Chief Executive Officers

CEOs are spearheading the generative AI transformation in nearly all industries. From viewing Gen AI as a new industrial revolution to building AI PCs to believing that AI can talk to a computer better than you can, here's what bubbling in the minds of top CEOs:

?

  1. Satya Nadella , CEO, 微软 emphasized the transformative nature of?AI, stating that " Adopt AI, don't sit on sidelines." He also noted that Microsoft is approaching PCs through the lens of AI, viewing them as potential "Copilot PCs" designed to empower users and accelerate their productivity. He further added on how it could transform the lives of individuals in the future. “A lot of us are afraid to venture into new domains because it takes a whole bunch of initiative, preparation and learning. But if you have something like Copilot to help you – an assistant that is going to walk you through each step – that is game changing. I think psychologically, that is the most exciting thing.”?
  2. Jamie Dimon , CEO,?JPMorgan Chase & Co,?believes AI could be as transformative as electricity or the internet, he says “We are completely convinced the consequences will be extraordinary and possibly as transformational as some of the major technological inventions of the past several hundred years,” He adds, “While we do not know the full effect or the precise rate at which AI will change our business -- or how it will affect society at large -- we are completely convinced the consequences will be extraordinary and possibly as transformational as some of the major technological inventions of the past several hundred years.”?
  3. Ali Ghodsi , CEO, Databricks says as generative AI becomes more ubiquitous, “Companies that prioritize data will have an advantage.” He believes that in every industry, the winners going forward are going to be data and AI companies and that the leading companies in the future are going to be data and AI companies — healthcare, retail, you name it.? ?
  4. Jensen Huang , CEO, 英伟达 Emphasized the need for democratizing of GenAI saying "we have to democratize this technology and the reason why is very clear. There's an awakening of every single country, in probably the last six months, that artificial intelligence is a technology you can't be mystified by, you cannot be terrified by it, you have to find a way to activate yourself to take advantage of it. And the reason for that is because this is the beginning of a new industrial revolution". He further added that "This industrial revolution is about the production not of energy, not of food, but the production of intelligence. Every country needs to own the production of their own intelligence, which is the reason why there's this idea called Sovereign AI: You own your own data, nobody owns it"?
  5. Sam Altman, CEO, OpenAI , shares a reflective perspective on the potential impacts of generative AI mentions “I think it’s important to understand and think about GPT-4 as a tool, not a creature, which is easy to get confused, and it’s a tool that people have a great deal of control over and how they use it. And second, GPT-4 and other systems like it are good at doing tasks, not jobs.” His distinction between artificial intelligence as a tool rather than a creature hints at the level of control and direction humans have over how AI is utilized.?
  6. Andy Jassy , CEO, 亚马逊 , saysThe amount of societal and business benefit from the solutions that will be possible will astound us all,” adding that the world will witness several GenAI applications that will be built by various companies. He added “Customers don’t want only one model. They want access to various models and model sizes for different types of applications”?
  7. Christoph Schweizer , CEO, 波士顿谘询公司 says, “To unlock GenAI’s full potential, executives should deploy it to improve efficiency of everyday tasks, reshape critical functions, and invent new business models,” He further added, “Doing so can increase productivity by up to 20%, enhance efficiency and effectiveness by up to 50%, boost revenue, and create long-term competitive advantage.”?
  8. Emad Mostaque, Ex-CEO,?Stability AI?says "I think in the next five years there'll be no more programming as we know it. Why? Because programming is just talking to a computer; and guess what, AI can talk to a computer better than you can talk to computers". He also believes that the future of AI lies in personalization. He envisions a world where AI models are not one-size-fits-all, but rather tailored to the specific needs of individuals, communities, and even entire countries.?
