Printed Wooden Cabinets
MJCP have been busy at work in the factory, digitally printing directly to wood, supplied by one of our favourite clients to work with. We're all looking to be more eco friendly these days with our choices, so using sustainable materials in combination with timeless design benefits all of us, including the planet.
?We were tasked with printing artwork depicting city skylines representing each branch of the clients’ business. These were for coat cupboards and smaller lockers. Hydrogen bubbles were dotted around, and dandelions overlaid the design. We used white ink instead of vinyl, to make sure that the design stayed consistent and the finish was spot on.
Also, using white ink allows us to print solid colours onto non-white substrates and keep them bright and impactful. This particular project required the print to be applied to sets of natural, red green and blue stained woods, so to avoid any sort of haze showing through the black ink, we flooded the artwork with two underlays of white ink. Depending on the material texture, you can sometimes see the depth and personality of the substrate.
The skylines were illustrated using a brushstroke effect, and our Arizona 6170 Flatbed printer caught all of the detail beautifully. We really hope that the employees in the office that this project is bound for enjoy their new lockers, and the artwork we have printed for them.
