When C3 member and frequent panelist Mark Babbitt introduced me to the Principles First initiative, I was immediately encouraged. Though all promotional content about this movement considers it bipartisan, Mark pointed out that it was founded by a fair number of conservative voices, many of whom are highly visible.
Upon reviewing many of the values this movement is based upon, it’s clear that there is a significant alignment between this movement and the Conscious Leadership movement.
As those who are familiar with C3 know, we are very much about co-creating vs. competing. Even if there are particular ways that my personal beliefs do not align with some of the proponents of Principles First Leadership, I feel aligned in the areas that really matter most.
Conscious Leadership is very much a term that represents a wider belief that our world needs more leaders who look out for the greater good of people.
Mark and I discussed the myriad of events that led to the more obvious need for such a movement, the negative impacts of the lack of leaders who are clear on their values, how organizational leaders can build a culture around their values, and all of the ways an organization and the community at large benefit from such leadership.
