The Principle of Least Effort | The Week of November, 21

The simplest algorithm is always the most attractive one.

What can you do as a UX designer to address this principle?

  1. While explaining something to your users, instead of telling about it in the text, provide an example.
  2. Do not clutter up space with unnecessary details or words.
  3. If there is a lot of similar information, use grouping.
  4. Make sure that the users understand well what they can or cannot click.
  5. Be careful and mindful of the size, color, and contrast of fonts.

"Make sure that the users understand well what they can or cannot click." Such an important one! They're all important but this one connected with me the most.

Well stated. For those interested in history, “The principle [of least effort] was first articulated by the Italian philosopher?Guillaume Ferrero?in an article in the?Revue philosophique de la France et de l'étranger, 1 January 1894.” https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Principle_of_least_effort
