Principle #4: Focus On the Present and the Future, Not on the Past
According to the new era, which is actually our New Life, we need to try not to look back to the past. Thinking about mistakes that were made, how we could have done things differently, etc. is a pastime that takes up a lot of energy. Our approach should always be about moving forward. That the current situation will always only serve only as a springboard to the desired situations.?
Naturally we live too much in the past, obsessing about our successes or failures. Our attachment to the past that usually involves going over every tiny detail in our minds, becomes a restraining force, and even a stumbling block. In the case of success, relying on the past inhibits development and innovation, making us more conservative in our thinking. And when it comes to conflicts, we all without exception project our past experiences on the present and the future. Instead of getting up in the morning for a new day filled with new opportunities, most of us get up for a new day with yesterday's burdens on our mind.? Who benefits from this? Nobody.
The past is like a disposable product, after use we throw it away. The same principle applies here. When we have finished looking at the past and getting the right conclusions from it, we should immediately leave the past behind us. And the lessons we have learned from the past should immediately be invested in the present, or even in more future plans. Of course in our time the future has shrunk considerably, but that’s another topic altogether.
Getting back to this principle - the past belongs to the present, the present and the future belong to the desirable, and most of our energy should be invested in the present and the future. From the past we only take what can really be used for the present and future. Everything else we leave behind.
Just to be crystal clear, we are not talking about calendar times, but about a correct division of forces that will help us differentiate between what’s important for our advancement and how everything else is redundant. Therefore, the present and the future is an approach to life, which requires us to be focused only on moving forward to accelerate our development and success.?
