“Not a princess, a queen”.

“Not a princess, a queen”.

This morning, I had the pleasure of hosting @Taboola’s inaugural panel of #TaboolHER, where we kicked off another arm of our Diversity Equity Inclusion #DEI endeavors.

We had an incredible panel, with a keynote speech by @pujarios - who gave us some amazing insights and advice. We then heard from some of the ninja #women leaders at Taboola to explore what ‘women in the workplace’ means to us as a company and how we can make Taboola a place where women CHOOSE to grow in.

Listening to the panel, one thing that blew my mind was learning how much mental energy women have to waste on adjusting their behavior and tone to be seen by men as equals. I shared a story that reminded me of the XMen moment when Magneto asks Mystique, why do you have to change from your beautiful blue to a human form, and deal with prejudices in society. Mystique should not have changed her appearance. Women should not feel the pressure to conform their identity according to their surroundings. Stay their beautiful blue.

I shared a story whereby when Ozzy was born, I referred to him as a king (‘Melech’ in Hebrew), but when Ellie was born, I referred to her as a princess (‘Nesicha’ in Hebrew), but I asked myself, why should she be a princess - she is a queen. And in that moment, I realized how these gender gaps start early. Just the other day, someone at the park here in the village told me what an adorable princess Ellie is, and I said not a princess - a queen.

I am so proud to be a part of the conversation to continue to learn and grow and to create a world where my daughter, Ellie, and all of our daughters and sisters and mothers and aunts and friends are referred to as “leaders in tech” and not “women/female leaders in tech”. #Diversity is vital for society and frankly, it’s vital for success.

I’m looking forward to many more of these conversations across all of our #DEI groups. Thank you to all of our panelists for your candid insights, I learned a lot. @Willemijn Bannenberg @Elizabeth Lakomsky @Nikita Olsen @Shelly Paioff @Kristy Sundjaja @Vered Levy-Ron @Ruthy Yakobowitz-Goldberg- And, thank you to our #TaboolHER team for putting this all together. More to come.

Love this Adam Singolda When I was working on my Ted talk-Dare to Lead Like a Girl- my son shared an anecdote - why do we say to men- do you have balls (masculine genitalia) for courage and stop being such a pussy (female genitalia ) for being a coward... (I ended up having to remove this from Ted for time) but think about it? Who said being a girl is an insult?? Why can’t lead like a girl also mean - win the race:) Here is the Ted- it’s not a woman issue it’s a society issue- let’s continue spreading this message to change the meaning of words and reclaim the phrase like a girl to mean be proud to be who you are- A king and not a princess - a queen ???? ???? https://youtu.be/nAUIJlAhW5c

Totally agreed. Many people think that this is a “women problem” when in fact this is everybody’s problem. Men must take part in the conversation about women rights and equal opportunities. As Hillary Clinton once said: “Women Rights are Human Rights. “ Not a Princess - a Queen!

Hey Adam, I’m glad you identified something serious with women in society across culture and geography. I loved the pick from X-Men , this is true and it needs to be changed or rather that’s why we are women and said to have more strength to bear pain than men .
