Prime Power for Telecom
We're shipping a number of PowerGens to support cathodic protection, instrument air, solar hybrid systems etc. Increasingly, the telecom industry is realizing the value of a system which autonomously operates on a mountain top while conserving fuel and eliminating the need for frequent ICE genset fuel and maintenance runs. (Heli rides are expensive after all) The PowerGen 1200 in the photo here will provide 24/7/365 prime power (not cycling). The PowerGen's unique ability to load-follow conserves fuel while making maximum power available when needed for radio transmission.
Network infrastructure to support communications are increasingly leaning on OilPro-supplied Qnergy PowerGen solutions. In some cases these same network locations support additional commercial cellular carriers in combination with the primary user's communications needs. The uninterrupted, continuous power available in harsh environmental conditions in difficult locations gives regular and emergency communications services an integrated system they can trust when lives depend on it!
Pictured here is the first of a series of units loaded out today for pipeline communications support on a very remote BC mountain top. Fueled with clean-burning Propane, this particular 1200 Watt PowerGen features redundant systems to maintain autonomous operation in the harshest of conditions far away from service access in mid-winter. The client immediately recognized the benefits of fewer, scheduled, maintenance visits and decreased fueling intervals versus conventional hybrid systems with reciprocating gensets. (PowerGens emit 100x less than an equivalent recip and pays off very fast when maintenance and access costs are considered.)
PowerGen has a design life of 10-15 years vs 1.5-2 years for a commercial grade Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) generator which requires major rebuilds, service, fluid changes etc. at regular intervals which is both inconvenient and expensive for remote locations. We also guarantee a reliable -40 cold start as well as Propane delivery thanks to our on-board available GHT (waste heat glycol heat trace system) and/or supplemented by electric heat tracing, which can be run off the secondary electric output circuit. If the above aren't enough to have you seriously look into PowerGen, look up "wet stacking" videos online. It is a nasty problem ICE gensets have to deal with when they're not running at full capacity. PowerGens supplied by OilPro completely eliminate wet stacking because they completely control the combustion process with a blower assisted, enclosed and controlled gas combustion system.
The photo above illustrates how a PowerGen system nicely clears even 5' high snow drifts around itself as the cooling fans on the radiator clear snow around the unit with the minimal amount of warm air we emit.
For this system, we provide AC power to a customer distribution panel as well as power for a Direct Current UPS. As PowerGens "load follow" the variable electrical loads associated with radio power, we reduce the consumption of Propane while guaranteeing the site equipment is always provided with sufficient power.
These systems are increasingly installed throughout the Rocky Mountains from Alaska to BC and Alberta. The onboard SmartView integration means operators can monitor system status anytime they wish with any device connected to the internet.
