We’re no exception and we do have our own peculiar issues.?A nation's Health is its?Wealth?and we will do all that's necessary to help improve it as it's any government's social contract with its people. I enjoyed it most because it explained things that occurred during the time that I was there in the highlands. His role in the Sandline affair seemed to me to be very unfair but he survived it well. It was interesting to read of the man's background and just how far he was able to come from such a humble beginning. He revealed a person of strength who remained devoted to his family and never let his success go to his head. He also revealed a warmth that I never saw in his prime minister persona. There was a certain naivety in his way of writing that added a charm to his story but I don't think the book has the strength to reach out to people who have never been in PNG, especially as the country seems to be of so little interest except for all the negatives of corruption and Manus Island. It anything to do with PNG is of interest to the general public it's the Kokoda Track which, sadly, seems to have become some sort of ego trip. ORDER YOUR COPY ONLINE HERE...

2 年It is so difficult for a society like Papua New Guinea to think globally and act locally especially when we are accustomed to free handouts. We always want someone else to push us. But it's a waste of effort to push someone when the person is not making an effort to move. It is hard to tell people to go fish themselves when they are used to you feeding them fish every time instead. Change has to start somewhere. In our case, the government seem to have some good visions and policies to want to increase economic activities and include more people to participate in the economy, but those visions and policies are not backed by sufficient fundings and strategic approaches as well as well-equipped human resource. On the other hand, the citizens must share the vision of the government and do something for themselves. we have a lot of opportunities around us. 10 years ago, those who complained and made excuses during the O'Neill government are still complaining today under Marape/Rosso govt. whilst those who actually did something for themselves and persevered nonetheless of the status quo are many steps ahead. We just have to do away with this "If's, But's, Why's, and etc." Too many excuses and sympathies. Les Pasin need lo stop.

2 年Good political statement. However before one talks about industrializing agriculture production, key infrastructures have to be in the foreground. That is communication and transport. Rural areas that host immense agriculture production potential are not well connected with with these infrastructures. So policy designers and decision makers must rise up to these tasks.
