there is no primary market or secondary market

hi there i can imagine you were all wondering what the next article would be abut, i was just waiting for the inspiration which came my way this week. i was in touch with a international auction, they toold me by phone that they would evsluate my work for sale and asked me to send more inforation, i did and the response was they can offer these works for sale as they dont specalize in the primary makret and only sell works on the seconday markte.

heres a little heads up next time any of you deal with such a thing, the only market that exisits in art is wheather or not the work will sell, no one cares about secondary sales or primary sales, if you come to auction with a work of art you got from your grandmother and want to resell it , they wont look at you it has nothing to do with weather or not you are reselling the work. they only look at the sales history and if they cant find one they wont sell it. galleries although on the surface they seem different are really the same, they seem to represent artists to the commerical market, unfortunatly the reality is all galleries only accept arrtists that already sell, some admit it and some dont but they all are only in it for a guarenteed sale.

its really a pity that there isn't sales training in the art martket as it seems very clear that all galleries are horrible salesmen, a good sales assosciate has the ability to identify quality product and explain to his client why they want to buy it and how it will benefit them, unfortunalty this isnt the case and unless you can convince the galleriest that your work already sells they wont sell it, your ability as a artist has no connection with acceptance or regection.

this is the reason 90 percent of artists dont succed becuase the product in the art market is the fame of the artist and unless the artist is so famous the mere mention of their name sends people in a tizzy there is no reason for them to buy.

for this reason a show at the guggenheim gaurentees headline news and record prices but without the fame there is no way to get there, unlless you have a personal connection, at the same time museums are struggeling with poor atttendance so its a strange dicotamy. much in the same way if you haev your art for sale at houser and wirth you are worth reckoning with if not you are a nothing.

we need to change this, the current society crushes creativty in youth and has built a image that succcess depends on how many likes you have on your social accounts, how much money you have in the bank or what form of social reeducation you are pushing, none of these things have anyhting to do with art.

art is social commentary says DovBer Marchette the reason the art market is this way is because it is a amplified version of our own lives, if we want to live more meaningful lives we need to look in to the art world and see what we are lacking, just as the mirror shows the flaws so to shifiting the focus on the mirror can adjust our own lives.

i appreciate the dedication of fabrizio sorbi and gabriella diddi for all the amazing work they have done, we are making a difference in the art world and only together can we get the proper recognition for DovBer Marchette and restore creativity to the art world. we need a new movement of like minded individuals who will collaborate on making the world a better place.
