PRIDE: Water or Peace?

PRIDE: Water or Peace?

My partner and I recently visited Greece and took this picture, which reminds us of our wonderful time in Athens. During our visit to Athens, the tour guide shared a great myth on how Athens got its name, "A big debate took place between two gods, Athena & Poseidon, to decide who should be the patron of this great city. They both competed by offering gifts to the citizens and the people had to decide which gift brought the most value to them.

Poseidon was the first to present his gift and he offered access to sea water, a very precious gift, which made the crowd cheer loudly. On the other hand, Athena, the goddess of wisdom, planted a sacred Olive tree- A symbol of the peace. Everybody wanted to live in peace so the people chose Athena and she became the patron goddess of the city that we call today Athens.”

The tour guide left me reflecting, “the people of Athens chose Peace over Water." What a precious choice! Inner Peace being the most important and natural state of one's soul.

I remember my own life journey growing up as a Mormon and struggling for many years with my own sexuality, feeling that no one, not even God, could ever accept me for who I am. Peace felt unattainable! I went through my own "dark night of the soul" and realized that although winter seems rather long, summer always comes. All these experiences became a gift and they taught me that in the presence of Light, all darkness disappears. It led me to a path of wisdom where choosing peace, Inner Peace, was the only choice.

In the past, I would have felt vulnerable and exposed sharing my life on social media and posting a picture of my partner and me . But today, I feel proud of this beautiful and amazing love in my life. Angelica came into my life to be a mirror of all the love that is present in my inner world. I feel a deep sense gratitude and a great sense of mission to be a Voice for those who want radical freedom.

I wish for all of us to choose peace, Inner Peace, over anything else. To live in peace is to live in freedom.

Freedom to choose, freedom to love, freedom to be truly happy and freedom to be the highest expressions of ourselves.

Happy Pride!
