Pride Month

June is LGBTQ Pride month all around the globe. The first Pride parade happened in New York City as gay activists commemorated the events of the Stonewall Riots the year prior. Since the first Pride celebration over fifty years ago, the queer and trans rights movement has evolved into a political and cultural force that’s fought for equality for all people. Nowadays, the LGBTQ community and its allies celebrate queer and trans Pride by throwing all sorts of celebrations—from family-centred picnics to marches through city centres to rowdy nightclub parties that go all night. Besides these vibrant celebrations it should always be remembered that Pride was born out of the need for a community to be accepted. It is important to remember that while today Pride month is celebrated in many countries, it was an act of revolting and standing against alienation, the latter still being relevant in today's society. To this day, being Queer is outright illegal or subdued and shunned upon in the majority of the world. To finish this off, a quote from an LGBTQ icon,?

Though we are reaching the end of Pride Month, we aknowledge that ever day is a day where you should be free to be yourself. And with that, we wish everyone around the world A Happy Pride Month!
