Today's devotional is from A Daily Taste of Proverbs

“Before his downfall a man’s heart is proud, but humility comes before honor” - 18:12.

There's one attitude that's sure to attract God's attention and that's pride. We see throughout the Scriptures how God deals with pride and He is said to hate it, resists those who exhibit it, and brings down the pride. Therefore, it's no surprise that God engineers situations where His followers must humble themselves and He does so for their own good.

Are you going through a season that requires you to humble yourself? As hard as that may be, it's a good thing, for God is working on your behalf to protect you from pride and according to today's verse, honor is sure to follow. Yet if you don't humble yourself, God may humiliate you. The choice is yours but whatever you do, don't allow pride to get the upper hand in your life.
