Network Supported Data Integrated (ADVENT) is the next-generation Combat Management System that was developed together with Turkish Naval Forces Research Center Command (ARMERKOM). The development of the ADVENT CMS started in 2010, with a view to meet all the needs of the Network-Enabled Capability approach. The objective of ADVENT is to provide an advanced, network-enabled Combat Management System, which is in the possession of only a handful of countries around the world.
·??ADVENT?is actively used on TCG KINALIADA, TCG BEYKOZ and TCG UFUK platforms;
·??Designed to be used on LHD, BARBAROS, OPV, AKOS, DIMDEG, I-Class, Pakistan, Ukraine, Indonesia and other country's corvette platforms;
·?It is envisaged to be used in Turkish Type Attack Boat, MELTEM Aircraft (ADVENT Marti), National Submarine (ADVENT Muren) and Long Horizon System (ADVENT Ufuk).
·??And also there is an ongoing project to integrate and use ADVENT CMS with Unmanned Vehicles (ADVENT Rota)
With ongoing and potential contracts, ADVENT CMS is expected to be in use on most of the surface, subsurface and air platforms of the Turkish Navy in the near future.
The main purpose of the ADVENT CMS is to meet network supported operational needs of a task force, in addition to conventional self-defence capabilities of the ship. Platforms with ADVENT act as a single unit over the Network Enabled Capability (NEC) within the scope of the operation performed. This approach increases the efficiency and success of operations multifold. ADVENT is designed under a modular approach that can be adapted to different platform types with different tasks.
ADVENT has been developed as a platform independent system. With its scalable open architecture structure; ADVENT can be adapted to surface, underwater and airborne platforms as well as land-based stations.
The modules of ADVENT have been independently developed in accordance with the ADVENT style guide, offering different capabilities and services. Integration of these modules can easily be achieved by providing data interfaces defined by the system. Main capabilities of the ADVENT CMS are;
Combat Capabilities:
Non Combat Capabilities:
ADVENT, an effective and fully automated CMS, is especially advantageous in a 'Network Enabled Capability'. Developed in a hierarchical structure in accordance with centralized control and distributed execution architecture, NEC increases the effectiveness of operations performed by enabling the share of platform capabilities with other platforms. In order to respond to the needs of dynamic and rapidly developing anti-air warfare environment, the ADVENT uses a mutual engagement capability that enables rapid and efficient planning for the coordinated use of air warfare efficiency of the force over the NEC, proper allocation of resources and coordination of this planning with other platforms. With this method, the weapon and sensor capabilities of the platforms with which the operation is performed jointly are shared over the NEC; plans are made for the overall task force considering the threats, the units to be protected and the resources, the plan is distributed to all task forces and executed in a coordinated manner.
Task Force-Focused Services
Single ship focused CMS capabilities, (navigational plans, regulations, operational plans, search and rescue, etc.), can be planned by taking into account other platform capabilities where operations are mutually carried out and shared with other platforms and executed in a controlled manner.

Training Capabilities
Advanced training capabilities are offered by ADVENT both in the virtual environment by simulators and in the real environment with actual systems.
Combat Capabilities
Tactics and procedures defined in NATO and National Tactical publications are presented for the use of the Command Team in order to support combat missions. (surface warfare, anti-air warfare, anti-submarine warfare, asymmetric warfare, electronic warfare, mine warfare, amphibious operations i.e),
Fully Integrated TDL Functions
Link 11/16/22, SIMPLE, JREAP and VMF networks and national tactical data links are fully integrated with ADVENT. With this integration, the TDL functions the multi-link system functions can be accessed from all CMS consoles as compared to legacy systems whereas access can only be possible from a specific/dedicated console. The TDL functions achieved in this wayand are distributed to all CMS applications. It is capable of operating multiple links of a similar type with different types of links simultaneously.
Non-Combat Operation
Today, naval forces have significant roles in so-called humanitarian operations. ADVENT offers a variety of capabilities to support activities such as non-combat operations, evacuation, maritime control and SAR.
Navigation and Operation Support
Operators are presented with various solutions that have been offered in the ADVENT CMS to ensure that the platform navigates safely and executes operational tasks, such as planning, preview and execution of the operation, safety controls during the course of navigation, positioning, many navigational assistance services such as navigational planning, execution, anchoring, etc.
Integration to Platform Systems
ADVENT is a platform-independent CMS and can be integrated to any platform easily and cost-effectively, thanks to its plug-and-play architecture. it is possible to support flexible and dynamic integration of any weapon or sensor systems such as, Radars, G/M's, etc. to CMS, as well as a mutual engagement infrastructure.
Rule-Based Decision Support System
With its rule-based decision support system capability, ADVENT allows the operator to define rules that will be valid for the tracks and plan the actions to be taken when the tracks are detected as per these rules. The ADVENT CMS additionally provides a user-friendly and flexible operator interface which is developed over modern hardware and software infrastructure. Furthermore, ADVENT has other capabilities such as; multiple work space, authorized access to functions, dynamic support, situational menu, English language assistance, warning infrastructure with operator interaction, 2D or 3D status presentation, infrastructure for dynamic data and video recording, replay and analysis of recorded data.
Conclusion
ADVENT has proven itself and deployed on many naval platforms presently. It has been selected as the official CMS for all platforms of the Turkish Navy and has recently been preferred by Pakistan, Ukraine and Indonesia Navy's corvette programmes. New modernisation and construction projects of some other brother and allied countries are on the way to be realized with ADVENT.
The ADVENT CMS as the rightful pride of HAVELSAN and Turkey with its capabilities beyond the era and has established itself amongst the worldwide known Combat Management Systems.
