Pride Factor and Celebrities Motivate Thousands at Inspired Youth Workshop

Pride Factor and several of the country’s high-profile role models, including international super-star Danny K, related their personal insights and interacted with thousands of teenagers and young adults at the Inspired Youth workshop at Nasrec last weekend.

Hosted by Pride Factor MD Dene Botha, the workshop was the second of two during the 2017 Gauteng Provincial Government Youth Careers, Jobs and Entrepreneurship Expo and was designed to provide the country’s next generation of leaders with the inspiration and tools necessary to achieve success, health, wealth and happiness.

“Today was a dream come true for me, speaking to thousands of kids for @inspiredyouthsa about my journey and telling the stories about my life few knew, teaching them that rejection, tragedy and failure can be overcome no matter how impossible the odds,” said Danny K on his Instagram account after his keynote presentation that had the huge audience on its feet singing along and cheering wildly.

The workshop was opened by pop sensation Alexandra May who spoke of the entertainment industry and encouraged the youth to follow their passions. Businesswomen and renowned motivational speaker Romy Heldsinger held their attention by covering business topics and entrepreneurship, especially among the country’s young women.

Boxing champion Tulz Mbenge recounted the dedication, training and persistence required to become a champion in whatever field one operates in, while successful businessman Fred Bohasu stressed the importance of young entrepreneurs and how they can build a better country for all.

Candice Robbertse told of her journey to becoming a Mrs South Africa finalist, starting a business and how the county’s youth have huge opportunities to become the best they can be, before Danny K closed the event with his high energy, impactful presentation.

Between the speakers, Botha conducted interactive tasks designed to get those present to challenge their assumptions and broaden their horizons, inviting members of the audience onto the stage to display their talents and rewarding participants with valuable prizes that ranged from computers, notepads and behavioural assessment courses to apparel and more.

Botha also encouraged the audience to become members of Pride Factor to enjoy the benefits of digital motivational courses on how to become entrepreneurs, manage and start earning their own income and interact with like-minded young people from all over the country and Sub-Saharan Africa while learning how to qualify for awesome rewards including educational bursaries, business mentorship and job opportunities.

I can’t wait to be a Pride Factor member,” said Maria Mambane. “PLEASE continue having these events, they are what we want and need!,” tweeted Polite Mudau while Akhona Mangeiphu at Graceland Education Centre said “I want to be a Pride Factor member and I want Dene and Danny K to come and speak with my school!”

Pride Factor, an approved service provider to the Department of Higher Education and Training, created the Inspired Youth workshops to provide a forum for the youth, regardless of their background, to hear from and interact with their heroes in entertainment, business and sports.

The 2017 Gauteng Provincial Government Youth Careers, Jobs and Entrepreneurship Expo ran from 9-18 June and hundreds of exhibitors showcasing information from different industries and academic institutions, fashion shows, entertainment, MEC dialogues and a march to commemorate Youth Day on 16 June.

The media partner for Inspired Youth workshops is Trace TV and the official beneficiary for the events is Cape Town based Dare to Share who presented their Game for Humanity programme.
