Pricing on Theoretical Weight vs. Actual Weight of Aluminum Profiles

How do you work out how heavy the aluminum profiles you buy from the factory ?

In practice, the actual aluminum profile weight can vary significantly from theoretical weight due to variations in manufacturing tolerances and compositions. Therefore, there are two different settlement methods：Theoretical Weight and Actual Weight.

Theoretical weight per meter is usually expressed in kilos per metre (kg/m). To find out the total weight per unit of your aluminium extrusion simply multiply the kg/m by the purchased length.

i.e. for the drawing attached, if I ordered a 5.8 metre length the weight and the quantity of the profile would be as below:

0.864kg/m x 5.8m = 5.011 kg/pc,

1000kg ÷ 5.011kg/pc ≈ 199pcs/ ton in theoretical

However this may not be the exact weight of aluminum profiles you received. This is because theoretical weight does not account for manufacturing deviations. All materials are produced within a tolerance and allow deviations in the materials resulting in weights that can be more or less than the theoretical weight.At the same time, the weight increases due to surface treatments. Actual weight call only be obtained by weighing the aluminum profiles and packages with a scale.

Therefore, the pricing on theoretical weight and actual weight of #AluminumProfiles are different. Please confirm the pricing method with your supplier before placing an order.
