Prichard | Mobile Co AL Business Social
Prichard is a mid-sized city in Mobile county , Alabama. With a population of just under 19,000 residents, Prichard is the 33rd largest community in the state.
Prichard was a thriving community in its hay day, however, poor politics and bad management coupled with a middle class flight led to the city's current conditions; as with many other cities that have fallen on hard times like Detroit and Gary Indiana, Prichard has suffered bankruptcies and arrest of city officials for stealing from the city coffers.
Many of the residents were part of a WW2 project that provided housing for the shipyards and airbase employees back in the days. In the 60s they were sold to the private sector, who in turned much of the real estate into rental units. With little upkeep or care much of Prichard had suffered the ravages of urban decay.
Prichard does not have a public transit system to get to and from work, buy groceries , or take the kids to their doctor's appointment , if you don't have a car . Regardless of the means by which you commute around town, Prichard is notable in that residents have a average commute to work than most places, with a commute time from home to work for those of us who live here is about 15 to 30 minutes on average.

Compare that to the average community in America, which has just under 22 percent with a bachelor's degree or higher. Of course, these days when you get a higher education it comes with a lot of debt! So, if you're someone who falls into this scenario, consider your options long before thinking about purchasing a home, and even before the ink is dry on your student loan note!
