The price of a yes

The price of a yes

Anyone who has practiced financial discipline long enough comes to appreciate the zero-sum nature of a monthly budget.?

To buy one thing is to implicitly decline the option to buy another thing.?

You can of course briefly create the illusion that all things can be bought, but spend more money than you have for a long enough time and you’ll be invariably humbled by the discovery that your seemingly infinite resources are not so infinite after all.?

All this has made me think about what it means to say yes to something?—?a project, a relationship of any kind that requires time and energy, or a job.?

The price of saying yes to any of these things is a series of nos or never minds toward things that, in many cases, we actually want to say yes to.?

If you’re feeling overwhelmed, maybe it’s an efficiency problem… maybe.

Or maybe you’re overallocated and need to say ‘no’ to more things than you’re used to or would like to.?
