Price of gas for industrial consumers to drop by 15 % as of 1 May

Director of state-owned gas company Srbijagas Dusan Bajatovic said that the price of gas for industrial consumers in Serbia will be lower by around 15 % as of 1 May, but the price for residential consumers will remain unchanged.

Bajatovic said that the conditions have been met for the price to be lowered for industrial consumers and those who are in the free market. This price decrease will amount to 15 % plus-minus 1 %. The exact reduction will be known once final calculations are completed, but companies can count on the price decrease to amount to around 15 %. He also said that, as of 1 May, the state would no longer subsidize the price of gas, adding that there had been extensive discussions about it within the Government of Serbia, the Ministry of Energy and the Ministry of Finance. The social policy of subsidized prices has been present? for a long time, and it cost the state more than a billion dollars. As of 1 May, there will be no more subsidies, and the price will be more realistic. Bajatovic also noted that gas prices in the global market had increased by 25 % in recent days.
