We're excited to bring you the later Global Assessment Report – GAR 2024 – on how disaster forensics can help us learn from past disasters to build resilience to future hazards. We also have other solutions ready to be applied – like using data to protect vulnerable communities, and insights into mitigating some of the impacts of climate change in Africa. Then we have some challenges that need to be addressed: how cities will struggle under a 3° hotter world, a deluge of epic floods across Europe and Africa, and the overlooked risks of slow-moving landslides.

Stay on top of the latest news, publications, articles, and blogs from the DRR community – on PreventionWeb.

There were very big earthquakes, one after the other, in my country. I lived through one of them; I went to a ghost city that turned into rubble the first month after the earthquake. It was the worst. Especially for women, children, pregnant women, postpartum women, newborns...... I hope the measures will be carefully implemented in all countries. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/38304943/

This report is a critical reminder of the growing challenges we face in disaster management and climate resilience. It's mind blowing to see solutions like data-driven insights and disaster forensics being highlighted, but the road ahead; especially in preparing cities for a warmer world requires urgent and collaborative action. Looking forward to seeing how these insights are applied in real-world scenarios!

Interesting insights! It is important that we learn from disasters. There are so many factors that involve all humanity. Yes, there are those countries that feel negatively when asked for help. That is until their country has or experiences a crisis or disaster! Now they want others to come running to their needs or help in every way. Perhaps a log book should be kept showing which countries come to help or give aide to countries with disasters!! Perhaps this would wake them up!! Visual aides like lists are self explanatory and essential at times of need or disasters. Any help, no matter how little, is appreciated HELP! We are all humans on this earth, so let’s be HUMAN!

What is Boldness in Effective Leadership? Multinational organizations, multilateral institutions, small, mid and large-sized business companies succeed when highly talented C-suite executives and hard-working employees decide they have a calling for public service. Indeed, I take pride in serving, making a positive difference and a meaningful impact by giving back to communities as a public servant. ? My leadership legacy as a successful Servant and Transformational Leader: I prioritize the needs and well-being of others, while also demonstrating empathy and a commitment to quality service. I put the needs of people before my own. ? 1) What is the root cause of the world's TOP 100 High Risks, including the complex challenges and serious threats, such as disinformation, reckless behavior, illiteracy, cybersecurity threats, and misinformation, in 2024? 2) Does AI have the potential to address global challenges? ? On Friday, Sept 20, 2024, I will participate in the UN Summit of the Future. Furthermore, I will watch the LIVE Video conference on Sept 20: The ECB President Christine Lagarde will deliver the 2024 Central Banking Lecture, followed by one-on-one conversation with IMF Chief Kristalina Georgieva.?
