Long term unemployment makes it more difficult to get rehired. To make matters worse, it wrecks the finances of the long term unemployed, even to the point of bankruptcy and losing homes.
If you're unemployed, you want to avoid long term unemployment at all costs.
Here are a couple of ways you can prevent your job search from turning to long term unemployment:
- Heavily Customize Your Resume: The more time you invest in customization, the better chance you have at landing an interview ... and the job. If you're only customizing 15-20 minutes per resume, you aren't doing enough. If you're sending a standard resume, one you've saved on a job board, or your Linkedin profile, you're not even trying from an employer's point of view.
- Get Better Employer Information: You can gain an advantage over your competitors, have a better chance at getting an interview and landing the job by improving your information sources. Publicly available information, like the job description, company website, and Google searches don't give you any advantage over others, and they are full of non-current information (yes, even the job description). You can gain an advantage and show employers that you can do more by getting access to better and current employer research information, to customize your resume and prepare for interviews.
While the above methods will get you started, there are many additional strategies to turnaround a failing job search, or prevent yours from turning into long term unemployment.
Let me show you strategies that accelerate job search for unemployed job seekers and can turn around your job search if it's already been going on too long. I'll teach you the exact resume/job search strategies designed to make your job search go much more quickly, especially if you're unemployed. While we're at it, I can teach you how to turnaround a failing job search, making it so fast that you can beat unemployment by Q1 2021.
This is the 3rd recession I've recruited/coached through, so I've seen first hand what resume and job search strategies succeed for job seekers during recessions. I've also seen mistakes candidates make, causing their recession job searches to fail. I've been through this before and know what works and what doesn't.
That's why numerous job seekers who work with me have already gotten job offers this March, April, May, June, July, August, September, October, November, December, January, February and March - every week since mid-March 2020.
As a top national recruiter who reads hundreds of resumes per day, who has helped hundreds of thousands of candidates in their job search, and seen thousands of employers' job search processes from the inside, I've got a different perspective than most career coaches.
I see that most job seekers do essentially the same things, even when they think they are job searching differently. I also see most job seekers were taught search methods that eliminate them from consideration, because they conflict with the employer's hiring process.
But I've been teaching job seekers to overcome unemployment for 13+ years by using non-traditional resume/job search strategies that demonstrate impact rather than just being average. I'll show you how to beat unemployment (even if you're over 40 or have other job search challenges) and find a job fast by understanding employers' point of view and hiring processes ... and using this understanding to beat your competition.
(I'm not just a career coach. I've also been a top national recruiter for the last 16+ years ... so you'll get advice from an insider's point of view.)
Let me show you what you can do now to change your job search and resume so you can find a job fast, even if you're between jobs, over 40, trying to change careers/industry/location, if your industry is in decline/consolidation, trying to overcome long term career gaps, family leave, find a remote job, turnaround your job search or other tough to solve job search problems.
