Prevent ARP Spoofing attacks
Now that you know what is ARP spoofing, let's see how we can avoid it to be safe.
1.If you are a small company or a home network, use a static ARP table.
What does it mean ?
In your router you have to add manually every MAC address from the devices that can join the network, this way any other devices that cracks your password or connects with lan cable to your router is automatically refused by the router.
2.HTTPS Encryption
Protocols such as HTTPS and SSH can also help to reduce the chances of a successful ARP poisoning attack. When traffic is encrypted, the attacker would have to go to the additional step of tricking the target’s browser into accepting an illegitimate certificate.
Use HTTPS Everywhere plugin from Chrome to be protected.
3.Use?Xarp software for monitoring your ARP table
Xarp is a freeware software that automatically scans your ARP table, and if it spoots a duplicate mac address, it is alerting you of the attack. The software is compatible with windows and linux.
4.Use a VPN
A VPN can be a reasonable defense for individuals, but they are generally not suitable for larger organizations.?Making a potentially dangerous connection, such as using public wifi at an airport, then a VPN will encrypt all of the data that travels between the client and the exit server. This helps to keep them safe, because an attacker will only be able to see the ciphertext.
