Pretend to Work Elsewhere

Elon Musk has declared an end to remote working at Tesla, saying that employees who cannot return to work by the end of the month will be terminated. He told employees to return to office or ‘pretend to work’ somewhere else.
In a memo to staff, Mr Musk said the company was "back to full production" but there were still "many challenges" ahead. He said that those who could not return to the office by the end of June would be "treated as if they left of their own accord and have no right to re-apply for a job". The news of the end of remote working will come as a blow to many Tesla employees, who have been able to take advantage of the company's flexible working policy in the past. However, with the company under pressure to hit its production targets, it appears that Mr Musk feels that now is the time to get everyone back in the office.
Pretenders
At Speexx, we went hybrid way before the pandemic with a clear goal to hire the best talent for skills rather than for location. When the pandemic brought office life to a halt, we hit the hybrid ground running. There is no doubt, that large parts of our recent growth (not quite as staggering as Tesla's, but still) are due to the great people that work hybrid or remotely for Speexx all across the globe. And I have no reason to believe that anyone here at Speexx is ?pretending to work“. How does hybrid work for you? Are your co-workers just pretending?
