The Pressure of Doing Something Great On The Beneficiaries of Inheritance

In the last 14 years, I have helped numerous teenagers and young adults to carve their journey to the universities abroad. More often than not, I served the teenagers and young adults who had the responsibility of power names attached to them. This responsibility often comes with the expectation of doing something great. Most of them had a realisation they they were destined to take the charge of a big empire or inheritance soon, while some had no clue about what they are going to inherit. Every parenting ideology is right in itself as we as parents use an ideology which is best served by our own values and beliefs. But, do we realise the responsibility we pass on with the power names? Do we prepare them to take that responsibility? Being in the international education industry for 14 years, I know that no university prepares for this. There is no course around it. Have you heard of Inheritance 101 at school? The answer will be No. So, I am putting together Inheritance 101 for those students who will be taking responsibility of inheritance in future. This is for teenagers and young adults to find a peaceful mental aptitude to explore their own identity and be true to themselves before they take up the responsibility of being attached to Power Names. The responsibility of being attached with Power Names could seem small from the outside, or to the larger world, it might look like just a privilege but the reality is a privilege is given to those who can bear the responsibility of having the privilege.
Imagine motivating yourself when there is no big incentive to do a particular task? How well can you cope up with that? If you trained your mind well, then you can cope better. But what if the mind is not yet trained for the same? Then our natural human instinct kicks in which does not let us work without any incentive. The aim of Inheritance 101 is to train the human mind which is going to take charge of the worldly responsibilities soon and will be sitting on the chair which says "Be careful - the world's future is in your hands". Many of us do not talk about politics much or do not intend to be a part of the political climate because it seems daunting to take care of a nature and taking up the responsibility for say 5 years term. Imagine, what these teenagers and young adults are feeling when they know they have to take responsibility of an inheritance for not 5 years but for life. Most times, they do not know how they are feeling about inheritance because no one asks them that question. And if someone asked them in the past, probably it was to ridicule them by making fun of their privilege. Hence, they do not feel secured to talk about those feelings with anyone in future. The chapter of talking about inheritance responsibility closes there for most there and then.
What if we can have a healthy discussion around the topic of inheritance - without judgement? What if we talk about it to help the people who will inherit wealth like no other generation in the history of this world? What if we can help them take that responsibility in the way the 14th and the current Dalai Lama was trained to take the responsibility or the previous Dalai Lama were trained? Because believe it or not, the world's responsibility will be on the shoulders of these inheritors in a way like never before. More than 30 Trillion dollars will be passed on between generations in the last two decades. This is the time we can prepare them to lead by being true to themselves, and carry the responsibility of power names with preparation. Often we over prepare for a stage performance. Remember the practice sessions for a play or a speech or a dance or a concert. But why do we have to under-prepare for inheritance?
