?? PRESS RELEASE | Red Flag complicates the qualification of Roberto González and JOTA

Monza, Italy.- Roberto González and the JOTA team had a complicated qualification face for the 6 Hours of Monza, which will take place this Sunday, due to the red flag that not allowed them to improve their times.

The fourth date of the FIA World Endurance Championship is developing this weekend in the Autodromo Nazionale di Monza, with a traditional race of six hours, where the Mexican driver and his teammates, Antonio Felix da Costa and Will Stevens, are looking to keep adding points in the fight for the championship.?

The activities began on Friday with free practice of 90 minutes, followed by two more practices this Saturday by the hand of the qualification at the end of the day. For this commitment, the one in charge of taking the controls of the LMP2 prototype marked with the number #38, was the British Will Stevens.

In a lot of greed to 10 minutes, Stevens got out of the first account facing the traffic of the Italian circuit of 5.793 kilometers, without having a competitive record. As time progressed, the team found a good time for their second and final attempt; however, a red flag stopped the session with two minutes left on the clock, thus slowing down the records and aspirations of the drivers who had been improving, including car #38. The red flag was caused by the stop on the track of one of Peugeot’s two debutant prototypes.?

Tomorrow’s competition will begin at local noon, having six hours of the race, where the actual leaders of the LMP2 championship will look for moving forward and making up ground, the Mexican race driver will be in charge of taking first place on board the car. The race will be broadcast for Mexico and Latin America in charge of Fox Sports 3, also could be followed in the official app of the championship.?

Roberto González

“I’m a little frustrated because the result doesn’t reflect the potential of the car. We had bad luck with the qualification, we planned a strategy of two tries. We went out and everything went wrong, on my partner’s first try Will got traffic, and on the second there was a red flag that interrupted the try when he was just going out. We will start elevenths, I will begin the race, our initial strategy will be to win a couple of places at the beginning, because on this track is difficult to overtake the LMP2 cars, due to the equal conditions, plus the configuration that we have in the car. We’re also going to take care of the tires, work well with the traffic and try to come back as far as we can. The little good thing about the day is that our main rivals in the championship were also affected by the qualification, so the fight is going to be interesting”.?
