MicroSintesis Inc. Announces Completion of Biotech Manufacturing Milestone In Partnership with SNC-Lavalin.?
?
Montreal, Canada, 4th?Sept 2023 – MicroSintesis Inc., a leading animal microbiome technology Company, is proud to announce the completion of its phase 1 milestone in manufacturing with the scale up of its next-generation microbiome feed technology for swine, in partnership with SNC-Lavalin.? The milestone involved three successful fermentation and downstream process scale-up’s of the technology to 8000L, paving the way for the industrial-scale production, and represents an important commercial milestone.
The Company’s feed material contains natural quorum sensing inhibition (QSI) molecules that help to modulate the microbiome population, promoting a healthy gut microbiota and reducing the risk of observing the symptoms of dysbiosis associated with weaning stress.?
?
Weaning stress, such as post weaning piglet diarrhea, is estimated to cost $2-$4 per piglet and is a multifactorial condition. The disruption of the microbiome due to weaning and dietary changes is thought to play a significant role in the development of the condition.? The ability of vaccines and other technologies to prevent PWD are not always effective, particularly in the case where multiple pathogens are involved.? Microbiome technologies are a new approach. They help maintain the health of the animal’s natural microbiome by modulating the population during the critical periods of stress, reducing the risk of observing the symptoms of dysbiosis and promoting a healthy gut microbiota.?

With the completion of this manufacturing scale-up milestone, MicroSintesis is positioned to provide a new solution to the problem on a large scale. According to industry research, the economic cost of post weaning stress in piglets is estimated to be in the range of $1-2 billion globally, with the potential to significantly impact animal welfare and public health along with increasing antibiotic use.?
?
“We are thrilled to have completed this phase 1 milestone, which is a testament to the hard work and expertise of our team and our partners like SNC-Lavalin,” said MicroSintesis’ CEO, Hannah McIver.? “Our technology has repeatedly shown strong results. With this scale-up we have demonstrated our ability to produce our technology at large scale and that we can now invest in maintaining the health and productivity of piglets, globally.”?
?
“We’ve supported MicroSintesis, an innovator in the biotech space, with their critical scale-up phase for the development of their novel products, with our process expertise in biotech.” ?said Paul-Philippe Champagne, Senior Process Engineer, SNC-Lavalin. “We look forward to continuing our collaboration as MicroSintesis brings their solution to market?and reaches their commercialization milestones.”??
?
“SNC-Lavalin’s work in the Life Science industry seeks to foster innovation and advancement across the sector, which is fundamental to our overall ethos and purpose- to engineer a better future for our planet and its people,”? ?said Ben Almond, CEO, Engineering Services, Canada, SNC-Lavalin.
?
MicroSintesis will now move forward with the scale-up of its process which will involve further optimization and testing of the technology.? The Company is committed to bringing safe and effective animal health feed technologies to the market to maintain the health and well-being of animal and the sustainability of animal agriculture.?

1 年So what is the microbiome? The microbiota is defined as a microbial community comprising bacteria, protozoa, and archaea inhabiting the animal body. In contrast, the term microbiome has been commonly described as a community of microorganisms and all their molecules, including their structural elements, signaling molecules, toxins, and molecules produced by the coexisting hosts. A new microbiome feed technology that provides the flexibility to be administered in the water for swine is amazing to have! Congratulations to our MicroSintesis Inc. team. I am feeling proud to be part of it :) DM if you want more information or your production is struggling with PWD. #microbiome #animalhealth #quorumsensinginhibition
