PRESS RELEASE: County Committee Looks to Fill Vacancy for First Supervisorial District

SAN BERNARDINO — The San Bernardino County Committee on School District Organization is seeking applicants to fill a vacant seat to an unexpired term representing the First Supervisorial District.?
The First Supervisorial District encompasses the communities of Adelanto, Apple Valley, Baker, El Mirage, Fort Irwin, Hesperia, Helendale, Oak Hills, Oro Grande, Phelan, Pinon Hills, Trona, Victorville and other high desert communities. Applicants must be registered voters residing within the First Supervisorial District of San Bernardino County. County Committee members cannot be employed by any school district, community college district or county office of education in any capacity in any county. School board members are eligible to apply.
The deadline to apply is 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 7, 2024.
After reviewing the submitted applications, the County Committee or County Superintendent will make the appointment.

The County Committee consists of 11 members, two from each supervisorial district and one member elected at-large responsible for considering proposals to change the organization of one or more school districts. Modifying the organization of school districts could include the following: altering the number of trustees, establishing trustee areas, school district boundary changes, and/or unification.
Monthly meetings of the County Committee are typically held on the third Wednesday of every month at 6:00 p.m., as necessary. These meetings are conducted in accordance with the Brown Act and held at the Dorothy Inghram Learning Center at 670 E. Carnegie Dr., San Bernardino.?
