Press Release: Becky Winegardner to lead the way at West Junior
The search for a new leader at West Junior High School is over as Dr. Versie R. Hamlett brings in Becky Winegardner to lead the Lions during the upcoming 2021-2022 academic year.
A dynamic leader, Mrs. Becky Winegardner brings a level of infectious energy and passion to her role that will be an asset as she builds relationships to improve teaching and learning. With nearly two decades of experience, she has served in various roles such as teacher, Head of School, assistant principal, and head of the College and Career Technical Education (CCTE) program. A talented musician, Mrs. Winegardner has presented many musicals during her educational tenure as well as directed in the Theatre Department.
Mrs. Winegardner is not new to Fayette County, as she spent over four years in the district. Her administrative journey with Fayette County Public Schools began at Buckley-Carpenter Elementary where she was an assistant principal; however, her talents and strengths would eventually see her moved to the high school to oversee the CCTE program for the remainder of her time in Fayette County.
A graduate of Austin Peay University, Mrs. Winegardner holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Education and a Master’s degree in Education Leadership. Mrs. Winegardner is excited to delve into her new role. “It is a great honor to be headed to West Junior High School for the upcoming year. My heartfelt goal is to make WJHS an award-winning school! With the help of an incredible faculty and staff, we will be able to enable students to Learn More, Dream More, and Achieve More! TOGETHER we will be a success!” Mrs. Winegardner lives in Mason with her husband Steve, who is a pastor and a general contractor. They have two children who are both pastors and educators. They were blessed with six grandchildren.
“I am excited that Mrs. Winegardner will bring her academic and CCTE experiences to West Junior High School to make a great school even greater,” shared Superintendent Dr. Versie Hamlett. “It is always a pleasure to bring a strong educator and leader such as Mrs. Winegardner back to our district. We are honored to welcome her to the Lion Pride.”
