“Sunlight is the best disinfectant.” – Justice Louis Brandeis

No moments of Disinfection (aka Justice) in this country – from missing children found to corrupt officials arrested to this morning’s sentencing of that privileged-prick-to-prisoner Murdaugh – could have occurred without the intrepid Sunlight of #localnews #journalism. None of your favorite true crime documentaries or podcasts could have its just and satisfying resolution without dogged grassroots reporting.

Long may the Fourth Estate sun shine brightly, but it sure seems as though our Press is as darkened as our Democracy itself lately. Local news is getting decimated – audience and staffing and funding all down. And independent objective investigative reporting is an ever rarer bird, flying nowhere near our national cable “news” brands.

In my beloved home state, there are at least three solid sources of non-profit journalistic integrity worth supporting, beyond its local papers:
