Presque vu? GenAI Clears the Fog

Presque vu is a term that describes the feeling that you are on the brink of recalling or realizing something but can't quite get there. It's often referred to as being on the "tip of the tongue." In this state, you know that you know something—like a name, a word, or some other piece of information—but you can't quite retrieve it from memory at that moment.

A friend of mine introduced me to this phrase, as a matter of fact we even have a WhatsApp group where all of us seem to suffer from this cognitive disfluency!

A little weekend pondering over the morning coffee made me think of the role of Generative AI to overcome this. It lets you throw out those random descriptions and helps string them together meaningfully and contextually. Anyone using ChatGPT regularly will vouch for the personalization based on your previous interactions and custom instructions you set-up. More often than not, it seems to understand your context better than a bunch of friends who always take you into a different tangent!

For instance, to write this blog I used Chat-GPT to generate the Presque vu definition. And voila, my thoughts started flowing. You don’t have to wait for the perfect idea or the line to come to you. It helps organize your thoughts and package it better for you.

I’ve often put off painting or sketching something because I’m not able to translate the idea in my mind onto the canvas. I recently stumbled upon DALL-E, a GenAI tool that helps me visualize how different art forms can be combined.

Are they perfect? No! But I’m not waiting for elusive inspiration to strike and stare at the void anymore. It helps kick in my creative juices and gets things moving.
