The President's View

We are back. Compliments of the new year to you and your dearest. There is something incredibly magical about the turn of a year, when that clock strikes twelve, it’s reboot season all over. It’s the ultimate “starts on Monday diet”. We wait for midnight to make promises anew, set new personal goals and career targets. What I’ve come to realise is that every next breath is an opportunity to make good on the to-do list. Could it also be that we are just well rested and therefore have much more clarity?

This year I’d like to encourage us to bring our A-game to every space we occupy. Make every action count. We want to bring you effective action- a focused effort in bringing quality programs and servicing and inspired action- doing it with passion, joy and excitement. Especially because this is a big year for AWCA, 2022 marks our 20th?Anniversary. Queue the confetti folks because we plan to make every single day count. We celebrate 20 years of faithful memberships, great partnerships, CAs(SA) certifications, university?graduates, executive placements,?internationally recognized corporate education,?and many more accomplishments.

So register for that Masters, apply for that job, start that business or whatever it is that has been sitting in your list year after year. I once read an article on the 5 second rule. The premise is, if you have an instinct to act on a goal, you must physically move within 5 seconds or your brain will kill it. The moment you feel an instinct or a desire to act on a goal or a commitment, use the rule. Push yourself out of your head by counting down 5-4-3-2-1 then taking immediate action. By the end of the day, you’ll have accomplished a good number of little and even big wins. The great deal of satisfaction that comes from living in the now is immeasurable. Before you know it, it’s midnight 2022 for 2023 but this time the list is of all the greatness you’ve unleashed onto the world.
