President Biden designates Avi Kwa Ame National Monument

A national movement of community-based advocates protecting 36M acres of Public Lands, Wild Rivers, Trails & Monuments
It's been a whirlwind of a week with President Joe Biden's designation of Avi Kwa Ame National Monument in southern Nevada, protecting over 500,000 acres.
This week's action by President Biden to designate Avi Kwa Ame a national monument honors the decades-long efforts to protect this sacred area and creates a corridor of protection from the Mojave Preserve in California to Lake Mead National Recreation Area on the Arizona/Nevada border.
As many of you know, monument designations don't happen in a vacuum. It's the result of years of hard work, perseverance, and close collaboration between Tribes, local communities, elected officials, business owners, and the thousands of advocates who make their voices heard.
We're thankful some of our staff were able to be present at the designation of Avi Kwa Ame and Castner Range and take some well-deserved moments to celebrate with our partners and conservation champions like Nevada Senators Jacky Rosen and Catherine Cortez Masto and Representatives Dina Titus and Susie Lee.
While we're taking the time to celebrate, we know there's more work to be done to ensure vulnerable and valuable landscapes across the West are protected for generations to come.
