The Luo Nation, we are an ethnic group found in several countries in East Africa, primarily in Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, South Sudan, and Ethiopia. Our language, Dholuo, is widely spoken among the Luo communities and is an essential part of what forms our cultural heritage.
Traditionally, we relied on fishing, farming, and cattle herding for our livelihoods. We have always chosen a close connection to water bodies, such as Lake Victoria, which holds immense cultural and economic significance for us as our Luo community.
Over the years, the Luo people have and continue to make significant contributions to various aspects of society, including politics, education, arts, and sports.
