A Preserved Destination with Sustainable Expansion

Today's world is slowly changing priorities, and the consumer society is questioning its way of being. The pandemic taught us all that only nature is sufficient for our living, and the goal is to treat it right, as it deserves!?

Working in the Balkans, this preserved gem of the Planet Earth has numerous charms as everywhere you look, you can experience the intact nature and indulge in its beauty. My family partially originates from this region, and I am proud that today I can contribute to its sustainable development through what I do.

My job brought me to Montenegro, the tiniest of the Balkans and a pure catalogue of everything that nature offers - from national to nature parks, the deepest canyon of Europe, one of the cleanest and warmest seas in the world - Adriatic, with the southernmost fjord of Europe where my office is located, and so much more. I am happy to see that more and more initiatives are being built on the local ground, and it's worth mentioning all the good practices that the Travel Organisation of Tivat has shown during its path to their Green Destination membership. Today, we have Solila Bird Reserve recognised by the green seal, located literally in the footstep of The Chedi hotel. The same team organised an excellent conference in November 2022, covering the topics of regeneration, preservation, and sustainability. The Chedi team participated, and they enjoyed it a lot.?Here ?is a glimpse of it.

It is a fact concluded at the abovementioned conference as well - in the Balkans, we don't need to regenerate nature and market, we only need to preserve what is already there and aim for sustainability along the way in our fresh endeavours.

Thus, as the General Manager of The Chedi Lustica Bay Montenegro and in line with the strategic mission of Orascom Hotels Management, we decided to form a Green Team that will be in charge of all the sustainable actions inside the hotel and in its surroundings. Not only do our offers promote the peninsula lifestyle with outdoor activities and local produce, but also all that we do has a conscious note, and it's well interfered with the Montenegrin Constitutional Declaration of Ecology! While creating this article, I read this one by CNN today, and I need to say that I am more than proud of The Chedi team to have come up with our very own water filtering and bottle plant, to reduce our plastic waste by truckloads.
