Presenting on Process Drying Technology at Battery Seminar

?

It's been a cold February so far in Charlotte, North Carolina, where I live. In fact, we actually saw snowflakes this week, which doesn't happen a lot here. So, I'll admit, warmer weather is one reason I'm looking forward to attending the International Battery Seminar in Orlando next month. Plus, I have the pleasure of presenting on Selection of Process Drying Technology for Maximum Black Mass and Electrolyte Recovery.

You can view a dynamic video abstract of my presentation here, but I hope to see you Thursday, March 20, at 1:15 p.m. as part of the Recycling Methods afternoon's events.

Taking a Holistic Approach to Lithium-Ion Battery Recycling and Process Drying Technology

My presentation starts with an examination of recycling lithium-ion batteries process that? begins with?the deep discharging of batteries and then followed by dry shredding/crushing/granulating,?process drying to recover the?electrolyte and advanced classifying?and sorting into? distinct material?fractions. After mechanical shredding of the lithium-ion battery, process vacuum drying is critical for maximum black mass and other solids recovery and electrolyte recovery. The drying process is fundamental to the recycling process and is the thermal removal of a the electrolyte from the black mass. In the vacuum drying process, gas treatment control for volatile organic compounds (VOCs), hydrofluoric acid (HF) and dust are included.?I'll provide a comprehensive discussion of drying technologies, testing, and troubleshooting.

You can also find me chairing the afternoon session on Recycling Methods which features the following presentations as well:

  • Kevin Howlette, Director of Projects, IFE Fire Command and Control, Safety, EHS International exploring Li Onsite De-Energizing BESS Failed or End-of-Life Batteries
  • Eric Frederickson, Managing Director of Operations, Call2Recycle on The Emerging Landscape of Battery Collection
  • Jong-Hoon Kang, PhD, Senior Researcher, LiB Recycling Research Center, POSCO Holdings, South Korea providing an Introduction to a Novel Pyromet Process for Recycling Spent Lithium-ion Batteries

Ready to Recycle with P&ID?

When it comes to recycling,? there is no one size fits all solution as the feed material varies and includes EV packs, modules, cell, wet and dry production scrap as well as small format batteries (power tools for example). I'd be happy to explore the best options for your process drying tech needs. I hope to meet with you in The Sunshine State to discuss the most suitable separation technology for your process applications.

If you can't make the seminar, let's schedule a lunch and learn. Contact me today!
