A dip into the archive provides the basis for a fascinating presentation:?On 17 August 1903 the Great Western Railway inaugurated a ‘Road Motor’ service to extend the reach of the railway from Helston to The Lizard.?Success built on success and bus services developed rapidly across the region and the area covered by the GWR network.?120 years on, it is enlightening to reflect on the vision of the pioneers who led the development overcoming business and technical challenges.?Insight from recent integrated transport initiatives in the West Country highlight the business and social drivers which remain relevant today. The evolution is an interesting catalyst for discussion.
TV&GWOT’s vehicle collection includes the only surviving GWR Road Motors bus, a 1927 Guy FBB No. 1268 (YF714). A full restoration to concours, roadworthy condition was completed by the Trust.
