This past week, I did something radical—I stepped back. ???? I took a break from posting every day to focus on my own well-being. Practicing what I preach about radical self-care is not always easy, especially as a leader, but it’s essential. That pause allowed me to reset, recharge, and realign with what truly matters.?????
Now, I’m back with renewed energy, and I want to share how YOU can also take small steps toward prioritizing your well-being, starting with a gratitude-driven approach to goal setting.
???? Let’s use this season of reflection and Thanksgiving to appreciate what’s working and to set meaningful intentions for 2024.
Why Gratitude Matters in Goal Setting
Gratitude isn’t just about feeling thankful—it’s a mindset that can transform how you approach life and work. When you start by appreciating what’s going well, you lay the foundation for sustainable growth and a clearer focus on what truly matters. ??
Over the years, I’ve seen how gratitude shifts everything.
One year, I felt overwhelmed by all the unfinished tasks on my plate—so much so that I forgot to celebrate the small victories.
It wasn’t until Thanksgiving that I paused and realized how far I’d come: the boundaries I’d set, the connections I’d built, and the resilience I’d cultivated. That moment of gratitude gave me the clarity to set better goals aligned with my values rather than just my to-do list.
If you’ve been feeling stretched thin, I encourage you to pause. Reflecting on what you’re grateful for isn’t just a feel-good exercise; it’s a way to give yourself credit and create space for intentional growth.
Steps to Gratitude-Driven Goal Setting for 2024
Here’s how to use gratitude as your guide:
1. Celebrate Your Wins: Reflect on what went well this year, even the small things. Did you take a brave step at work? Set boundaries that protected your peace? Every win matters, no matter the size. Write them down, and let them remind you of your progress. ???
2. Notice What Brought You Joy. Think about the people, projects, or moments that truly lit you up. What fulfilled you, energized you, or made you feel connected? These are clues to what you should prioritize more of in 2024.
3. Set Goals Aligned with Your Values Use your reflections to set goals that reflect what’s meaningful to you, not just what’s expected of you. If you’re grateful for having more time with family, focus on setting boundaries to protect that. If mentoring gives you joy, create more opportunities to nurture those relationships.
4. Build in Radical Self-Care As I’ve learned, self-care isn’t just a nice-to-have—it’s essential to showing up fully in all areas of life. Make caring for yourself part of your goals, whether it’s through regular breaks, hobbies, or leaning on a supportive community.
Why Community Matters in This Journey
Practicing gratitude and setting goals is powerful, but it’s even more transformative in a supportive community. That’s why I’m building a membership for women in leadership to come together, share their wins, and support each other through the challenges.
I want to ensure this space meets your needs, so I'd like your input. What would make this community most valuable to you?

Make Gratitude Your Secret Weapon
As you prepare for the new year, remember to pause, reflect, and show yourself some grace. Whether you take a week off like I did or find moments to breathe in your daily life, self-care is the foundation of success. Start with gratitude, and let it guide you toward goals that reflect who you truly are and what you truly value.
And if you’re ready to go on this journey with a community of like-minded women, don’t forget to share your thoughts in the survey.
Together, we’ll build something extraordinary. ??
