Headshots are a powerful way to market you and your brand. I put in a ton of effort with my clients when they arrive for their appointment. We try different lighting, poses and wardrobe changes.
Though I promise my clients a brilliant experience with seamless results, there are some guidelines that I always give them. Getting a headshot means you have to be on your A-game – which means you got to prepare for your appointment at your end.
Are you ready? Here’s what you have to do.
Get a Good Night’s Sleep. This is essential. A night of good sleep really shows, even through make up and all the photoshopping. Your skin is less inflamed, there are fewer physical signs of fatigue, and you look refreshed.
Pack a Small Supply Kit. Whether it’s a hairbrush, lip chap, makeup, hair gel and outfits are packed the night before and bring it to your shoot. It’s best to prepare and plan for your aesthetic in advance if you already have an idea about what you’re going for.
Don’t Make a Drastic Change. Whether it’s getting highlights or a haircut, don’t do it a day before your shoot. Get it done a week earlier because it takes a hair cut that much time to grow in and for the hair color to settle in, too.
Relax! And before you hit the studio, take a deep breath and relax. It’s tons of fun getting a new headshot, and we’re always equipped with whatever you think you might have forgotten at home. So just relax and have fun.
